QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
This Port Authority is nowadays still certified by UNE-EN-ISO 9001/2008 and UNE-EN-ISO 14001/2004 standards after approving the external follow-up audit conducted by SGS Iberica S.A., on January 2015, for the following activities:
Providing port services including: investments in port infrastructures in compliance with the General Standards and Rules for Contracting Proceedings of State-owned Ports and Port Authorities by open access proceedings, sea signposting, vessel anchorage and mooring management; management of port sites, warehouses, buildings and facilities for storage and handling merchandises, vehicles and for passengers transit; management and supervision of port public domain and surveillance and security management.
Thus, this Port Authority promotes quality in its services by getting all customers and suppliers involved and the respect towards the environment complying with the applicable legislation and intending to improve the thresholds required.
Moreover, this Port Authority has subscribed two contracts with the University of Granada, one of them concerning air pollution analysis and control and another one regarding control and monitoring of sea waters and mud, both in the Port of Motril.
There is also a Plan for the Reception and Handling of Ship Waste and Cargo Residues (Edition 7, November 2021) as established by R.D. 1381/2002. As with an Internal Contingency Plan for Accidental Marine Pollution as established in R.D. 253/2004.
Besides as established in the legislative Royal Decree 2/2011 endorsing the Revised Text of the State-owned Ports and Merchant Marine Act, this Port Authority works following a Guide of Good Environmental Practices for handling and storage of solid bulk. In addition, we also work according to a set of specific references developing general references established by the State-owned Ports institution for the whole Spanish port system consisting in the collection of applicable quality features from services provided in handling and storage of bulk at the terminals of the Port of Motril. Both are key documents for bonus applications on activity charges levying operations carried out at terminals as established in article 245 of the above-mentioned Royal Decree.

We have also adopted our own procedure for Business Activities Coordination as established in article 24 of the Act 31/1995 November 8th on Work Risks Prevention stated by the Royal Decree 171/2004 January 30th on Business Activities Coordination implemented in every company established in the port site.
